Went to LFS today to get some more substrate and had to have a look at the fish, of course. They had some smallish Clown Knife's in funnily enough, but what really caught my eye was a tank of 4 Senegalus  After I said the other day how they don't really appeal to me, I came home with the cutest little guy! Well, he's not that little, over 4".

He has fit in very well with my Delhezi and Ornate, seems very happy. He's a lovely colour, looks silvery platinum with reddishy pink tail and purple behind his fins. I have tried to get a pic but failed. He is knackered after all the swimming around exploring, and now dosing in the plants at the back of the tank  Will get a pic at some point

Here's some pics. I think she may be female. My Ornate seems to have a bit of a crush on her.

My bichirs are called Little B (Delhezi), Big B (Ornate) and New B (Senegal)

Cute Senegalus!

Try post a clear picture of it's anal fin, and I will tell you for sure if it is male or female.

NewB ate tonight, and once they started, they just didn't stop  Seems they are going to enjoy living here, lots of yummy food :)

Hi.
Nice pics.
From the last photo I can tell you it is a male.

The anal fin is shorter and wider. A female has a longer thinner fin.

Not much difference other than males tend to stay smaller than females.

Ah thanks gasmask, I thought it was the other way round! My Del must be a male then, and my Ornate a female. My Ornate has an immense appetite, I think they had about 8 pellets last night plus some worms. I have two greedy B's and the Del who has one pellet and is satisfied, and he doesn't seem to grow
