Picked up my new fish today so i thought i would add some pics as there rather unusual.

There lake Victoria cichlids and apparently can be mixed with mbuna but as with any experiment i have a back up plan but the only fish that is bothering them is my acei !. My afra gave the male a shimmy and my new male backed down.

Think it should take a few weeks to see how they settle in.

Male without its colour.

male with a bit of colour cant get a photo with full colour but believe me its amazing.

Nice fish, I`ve been tempted with some Victoria fish before.
What kind of diet do they need ?

that second picture is a hybrid surely????

it's got two tails :hey: :hey:

lovely looking fish there Adam, usual source i take it?

:good: Got to agree with you adam they are a cracking fish, they look even better when they have settled in but a little territorial. Had 1 for 6 months but when I got the bigger tank he didn't do well just kinda hovered at the top of the tank for weeks before passing on  haven't had any joy finding another nobody seems to stock them

Told you it was unusual

Not a 100% sure on diet there not alot of available info on the so far i have found they eat insects and there omnivores and the shop feed them pelets.

It also seems from a reliable source (our eye in the sky) that these are on the endangered species list after looking myself it seems most Victorian cichlids are on this list due to the nile perch eating everything.

I got them from maidenhead aquatics in Hereford not what you would expect !

P.s if anyone knows more about these let me know.

Very nice fish adam. :good:

Great looking fish and I'm sure they make a nice addition to the tank. I really like the egg spots.

Its still early days but they seem to be settling in quite well my acei are keeping a wide berth of the male think he might of got a nip back.

The behavior is quite different to the mbuna it shakes different and they all sleep together and swim together and it looks as if the females are all ways nipping each other but in a friendly way and they rub against each other ?

They sound more like Bala sharks  That's exactly what my Bala's do. :D
