This morning I woke up an noticed an almost-tumor looking circle on my bettas tail. His colors donā€™t seem to be fading and he is his usual self, but I am still worried because it is so sudden. Please help! There are pictures below

No idea what you are talking about. The only thing I can see on the fish is a lump where the dorsal (top) fin meets the body, and the top half of his tail appears to be missing in the first picture.

Yes , sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the lump where the fin meets the body. I am relatively new to having fish and have never seen a bump like this before, is this normal?

No it's not normal. It's not a parasite and looks like a cyst or tumour, but it could be a bacterial infection under the skin. It could be a burn blister if the fish slept against the heater and the heater came on.

It's a monitor and see how it goes problem.

You can do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week or two and that will help it recover if it's a burn. There's no cure for cysts or tumours and it's unlikely to be bacterial. However, if it changes over the next few days/ weeks, post more pictures. But at this stage, water change, gravel clean and see what happens.

Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Update on the lump; it has definitely gotten bigger but I didnā€™t see any change in his activity level so I figured it was nothing too dire. This morning I woke up and realized that it had teared, leaving the lump open and full of something white (seen in the pictures below). I still donā€™t know what this means, so any information would be helpful.

I would say it's a tumour that got caught on something.

If the fish stays still long enough, you could tie a thin piece of thread around the base of the lump and tie it tight. That can stop the blood flow to the growth and the outer part can die and fall off the fish. However, if it's a tumour, there will still be cancerous cells under the skin that might grow back.

Other than that there is nothing you can do except let him live out his life. When it causes problems with his swimming or he stops eating, then euthanise him.

You can add a bit of salt (sodium chloride) for a week or two if your worried about infection. Just use 1 heaped tablespoon of salt for every 20 litres of water.
