Gonna start a topic for the new tank i bought last night

its a 5x2x2 with curved front corners. will get some pics up later on of the tank. needs a good clean and im on the lookout for some 4ft lighting and the tubes inside have packed up and i dont like the LEDs it came with. have got a filter and heaters ready to go in. only question i have. The lad i got it from has left the old media in the filter, and left water in it. how long will the bacteria last in there before it dies off? or does it need a constant flow of water? Cheers!

After a day, there should still be enough to sustain *some* fish. If it's been over a day, I would fish-less cycle it, keeping in mind that there should still be enough to make it a quick cycle.

The fish that are going in are in a complete cycled tank thats been running over a year, so the filter from that tank will be going in alongside the one I have just got :)

That should work fine then, regardless of whether the new filter is cycled. For the sake of making sure, do run both filters for at least 6 weeks, if you plan to remove the old one.

Pic of itt. needs a scrub and ive done the lid now so the led strips are in there fine :)

Gonna use the LEDs for now and see how it goes if I don't like it I will change to tubes . 50kg of black sand is on order and I've just ordered some bogwood to put in there filter is Plummed in and the heaters are in place just need some damp and some fish!

The Fish that are currently in my tank upstairs are going into it. Sevrum, couple of angels, pair of kribs and some community fish really got all the sand in last night and filled it with water gonna put the pics on today!

Great looking tank. I'm so jealous about the fish that are already "in" there. Been looking for that "species" forever. I would kill to have those! :hyper: Would you sell? Do you ship? How big do they get?

Really nice looking tank. Keep us updated.

im sure i can ship them. they keep having fry everytime the computer gets turned on. lol ;) im sure a few would be ok packed up. there is a guarenteed delivery aswell i promise there would be no casualties. lol

Nice looking tank. Are you putting plants in it? I think it would look even better with a black background.

i debated a black background but i didnt want it to be too dark. i would put plants in but the dollars and sevrum will just blitz it. i put some plants in the tank i had upstairs and it must of been minutes and i watched the sevrum pulling it all apart and throwing plants about lol

Nice looking :good:

I also think it would be good with a darker background, as long as you have decent lighting would look super! Planted would be good too, but like you say if the fish destroy it, dont waste the money!

Cant wait for more updates :good:

Added the fish and filter from my tank upstairs yesterday and also added the spare external filter that I had so currently there are 4 filters running lol 2 that are well used and the 2 new externals. So when the 2 from the smaller tanks come out in say a month or so there will be a turnover of 2700lp/h which should be ok. also I 3 clown loaches becuase I think they are so cool . A question I have is will the bristlenose plecs be ok with say a gold nugget plec or will they scrap? Pics to follow later!

Very nice, like the pics. , cheers for posting them up, can I ask what make of black sand you got ?
Really like it, thinking on that for another tank I'm doing up . . . .
Cheers, Sean
