Fish Herder
Well today my lovely, amazing (she might read this) wife said that I could order a 5x2x2 tank for my expanding cichlid family (I do love her, really I do !!).
Currently in my 90 gallon (4x2x1.5) are 2(and a half) sevs, 3 x Geo. surinamensis and 2 x Acarichthys heckelii (along with a bristlenose, a couple of brochis and a smattering of tetras .... oh, and a couple of oto's).
They are all smallish at the moment and space is no problem but I love this particular community and I want to be able to house them into adulthood for many years to come. THe sevs in particular are expanding at a frightening rate !
So anyway, the deal with my good lady is struck and a call to ND Aquatics will be made in the morning. I'm excited, but dreading the big changeover. It's going to be a bit of a nightmare.
Reckon I'm going to need an upgrade in filtration too. Currently I'm running Eheim 2217 & 2215's on my 90 gallon. Thinking of maybe adding a further 2217 for the new tank.
Would appreciate any thoughts on filtration. I thought about keeping my 2217 and replacing the 2215 with an FX5 but thats an extra £150 (and for an Eheim snob like me that also means running non-Eheim filters), when just buying another 2217 will only set me back another £80 or so.
A sump is another idea but I'm nervous about that as I have no experience of sump filtration.
Overall, I'm thrilled that Honey, Hetty and Edwin (he's the half), my beloved Sevs, willl be getting a suitable home to keep them into their old age.
Blimey, 500 litres to play with. I can almost go snorkelling in there with them !!
I am a blessed man.
