Hello, i just got my new 260 liters aquarium (FLUVAL OSAKA 260) it comes with everything and some of the info here:
* Fluval 305 External Filter
* Fluval Tronic Heater 300w
* LCD Thermometer
* Life-Glo & Power-Glo T5HO Bulbs
* Nutrafin Max Tropical Flake Food
* Nutrafin Aquaplus
* Aquarium size; 103cm long x 62cm high x 45cm wide.

At the moment im runing 40 liters tank which has been with me for about 3 years now and its heavely planted. My question is what can i use from my old aquarium to speed up the sycle of new 260 aquarium.

I have also got 4 bags of Caribsea Black Marine Sand which shuld not effect affect pH (as i was told by sea-pets.co.uk, supplied in a 20lb bags - will that be enough to have planted tank and is Caribsea Black Marine Sand a good choce? as i think in heaving only cardinal tetras in that tank which shuld bring up the nice colours :)

Thanks for everyones times to read this and i'd appriciate any help or suggestion for my new tank.

Sergey

Nice tank I got the 320 Osaka

The sand should not buff the ph as it not coral. Might effect it a litle bit but nothing to talk about. Things like driftwood effect ph also

What type of filter do you have on your 40l? You can add the sponges etc to your new filter to help speeds things up a little. Though it is a pretty big jump form 40l to 260L. You could add you old stock to the new tank and slowly increase stocking over weeks (fish in cycle) though you prob be safer and quicker to do a fish-less one which is less work

Yes you should worry about the weight. might need the joists/beams reinforced

Yeah i got CO2 System tho i think its probably not big enough for this tanks so ill have to get another one. The filter i have in my 40l tank is pretty small but i do need to use that one in my small tank as i have 8 neons there.

I know i heard that i can take some watter when i do water change and place that water from old tank in to a bucket and set up new Fluval 305 External Filter to run there for couple of days for bacteria to populate (not sure how much it will help) and also place some plants with roots there too as was told that roots contain loads of bacteria too.

Regarding the weight i think from outside as i can see that the tank wont be sitting on the joint but rather on wall which is beneath my flat, dont really want to take the floor appart lol. So my main consern is i dont want 260 liter with fish in my flat and about that im really worried.

Also anyone can get or post picture of how big is the tank if some one stands next to it as my misses gives me hard life saying that when it arrives its going to be giant and keeps telling me to ge smaller OSAKA (which i think is just a box lol)

Any one knows what kind of stone this is? :

The water from your small tank should be clean and have no ammonia to start a cycle. You be far safer starting off new fishless or fishin there some very good guides on these forums for both.

And a huge tip form me. Get yourself down to b&q and get a sheet of acrylic/plexiglass and make a cover for the tank. Very easy to do so and cheap. It will trap heat and stop water evaporating into the air. Also helps keep this fish in the tank :D. The sounds of my filter and low water was driving me mad

Hehe good news, i found out that my floor can withstand over a tone where i want to place my Osaka 260 :)
Maybe soon catch you up Bigpig with 320 !

Still no one has any idea bout what sort of stone in that aquarium? Looks like lava rock or something.
Also anyone can tell me for how many litters will this Co2 system be ok?
