I have a fluval 206 filter, a four way air pump. I have a air curtain and treasure chest attached to this at the moment, for oxygen
And i also have a fluval heater.
Im currently in the process of a fishless cycle so this tank still isnt ready for fish.
Do i need anything else for this tank? I.e sump etc.
Im not to sure what they are for if im honest as im relatively new to this hobby.
any help and advice i can get would be very helpful. :)

I am no expert but the best answer I can offer to you is just don't kill your filter bacteria with unconditioned water.  Keep browsing the forums and I am sure you will find tons of answers to tons of questions.

Assuming you've read up on your fishless cycle stuff and are adding ammonia as directed you look to be doing all fine there with what you have.

No need for a sump, the 206 is plenty enough for filtration and is a good simple all in one solution for your tank size.

yes ive been adding ammonia. My tank is half way there i think. Ammonia is at 0 and nitrite has gone off the clour chart.
I just wanted to make sure i got everything i need to have a successful tank. Im upgrading from a 30litre. And ive had nothing but problems with it. People say its because its a smaller tank and the water can change quicker as its a smaller water area

Decent liquid test kit, heater, filter and regular partial conditioned water changes are all you need regardless of tank size really.

Problems will  occur if you clean too much/kill bacteria, overstock or skimp on regular testing and maintenance schedule.

Problems can also occur if you don't research what fish suit your water like getting Rams if you have alkaline hard water would be asking for problems so make sure you know your PH, Hardness etc and only add fish suited to those conditions
