Never Heard

I guess endler-guppy hybrids would be good feeders if you have a large fish, since you'd eventually have more than you can take care of and it would be irresponsible to sell them

LOL, i plan to sell them and most likely will sell them as just endlers if they are worth much more

The essence of why so many serious aquarists are against hybrids in any form - unscrupulous and dishonest people producing them & passing them off as the real thing.

Why is it?!. I heard you lot saying they look EXACTLY the same so.. The chances are i am going to keep the fry and maybe give some to friends and people on here :/
I do what i like to do..

I'm sorry. I'm on the verge of losing my temper. If you want to own and breed fish, at least do so responsibly. I don't see why you insist on doing this. The fry don't look EXACTLY like endler's. They look like slightly duller endler's. If you want to make money, only breed endler's and do so in a seperate tank. If you just want to play around pointlessly, do your guppy X endler's cross and then sell the fry on as fancy guppies. No one on the forum is going to buy 'endler's' knowing they are hybrid guppies - especialy if you raise the price. Hopefuly, most LFSs can recognise a pure endler and will take yours for fancy guppies. Why are you being so selfish? Don't you care about what happens to fish populations? Note that, by making the domestic strains impure, you are also encouraging the depletion of the few remaining wild populations as people go for wild-caught specimens to ensure they are getting the real deal. What is it you think you are going to achieve by hybridizing these fish? If you think you're getting money from it or are going to produce something impressive, you're deluded. Sure, endler's sell for a little more than guppies - but your hybrid fry are probably going to sell for the same as your average guppy and even the slightly higher endler price is only a slight increase. If anyone manages to recognise them as hybrids, you'll be getting close to nothing for them as hybrids are generaly considered worthless. Besides, like I said before, why the h*ll do you want to breed andler's with guppies when you can buy them ready from the shop? Just get yourself a fancy double-sword guppy - there, that's an endler's hybrid!

Oh, I've got an even better one... go look in this thread: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=120752 Try the combtail X paradisefish... Now those would sell. Just keep in mind both need seperate tanks from any other fish and are somewhat aggressive.

Or buy a female molly and put her in with your male guppies. She'll eventualy produce fry.

But i am going to hyrbrid them then sell them as hybrids and sell the endlers as endlers..
What goes on in the wild does to affect me..

So you're going to breed Endlers and Guppies, and then Endlers and Endlers? If so, then it's fine to sell them as Endlers, but make sure they are NEVER bred with ANY fish that might have been in with the Guppies, or a fish that has been produced by the hybridising. :)

Can I ask why you actually want to do this? What are you expecting? What are you planning for? Just wondering.

hey annastasia you the only one that is beeing nice about it!,
I like experiment- i want to breed one species with another in order to know that it was >ME< that created that little creature,

Well....technically you wouldn't create it, as it's been done before. A lot. In fact, some fancy Guppies are already hybrids themself.

I'd say as long as you breed true Endlers to make up for the ones you are hyrbidising, it could be okay. I'm still personally against it, but as long as you are giving back. Just be 100% sure you breed the Endlers with the Endlers. It can be hard to tell, since they will look pretty similar.

I think you'll find it more rewarding to just breed the Endlers, personally. You'll get some great colors. And you won't be taking away some of the few pure Endlers.

Thanks,
If they are out of the wild they are never going back.
Todays world is to advanced to let creatures go extinct- if they started to people would obviously give up some of their homebred ones to the iwld(I know i would)

If they are out of the wild they are never going back.

Which is why we should preserve the ones we have at home. Maybe there will be a release program eventually...you don't know.

But I'll get out of it. Do what you want, it's your choice.

Lol, i'm going to do both first i am going to get the endlers in their own 15Gal Tank breed them pure, keep only the pure ones in there, htne in time take out a few of the the pure ones and put them in another 15Gal tank with guppy's let the mating begin- then put the hybrids in a 10Gal tank and we are sorted
15Gal will have Pure Guppy
15Gal Will have pure Endler
10Gal Will have the Hybrids

And where are you going to take the hybrids every month? You realize you can be over-run with fry in about 2 months? 10 gallons will hold about...5-10 full grown ones. Most batches have more then that.

Anyway, now it's up to you. I urge you to totally think this through, have true homes planned out for them, and know what you're getting into. I suggest you read through all the posts again, and take into account what everyone is saying, without thinking it's a attack on you, as some have some very good information. Then make your decision. Good luck with whatever you do.
