Well, I got a new digital camera and have been screwing around with it. I bought these cichlids as bolivian rams. I think I have a pair but I need to make a positive ID. I'm working with photo bucket on resizing them and Im new on digital cameras.. These photos took about 20 shots to get some good photos of them.

Please help me out...and excuse the large photos...Im working on it.

Maybe an Acara [AEQUIDENS ]or some type of Geo. Try a google .
Doesn't look like a Bolivian Ram anyway .Nice looking fish , looks like a blue acara , there are actually more then 1 species of Aequiden sold as blue acaras IME anyway .

One has a really dark markings, so I think he is a male. He also has the black dorsal fin thing , thats why i think hes a ram. But just incase he is a blue acara, will he eat any of these fish?

Black skirt tetra
rainbowfish
danios
corys
plecs

Is he a blue acara or no? Should i trade them or move them?

it's hard to tell for certain, maybe leave him a while longer and try to get a shot with out flash.

if you follow the fish with the camera while shooting the camera should focus on the subject but blur the back ground.

No, I bought it at my LFS...they do have the tendacy to misname things however.

yeh,as mentioned it might be a geo or acara, more likley geo,but definitly not a ram

Its not a blue acara, im pretty sure its a Pearl Cichlid witch hit about 8" and ues all those fish will become feeders within the next couple of months.

im pretty sure its a geo. i think its actually the geophagus brasiliensis, look just like one. :D . im about 90% sure that thats what it is.

In the first pic it looks just like my bolivians, but by the second pic, its def not, the mouth and snout shape is wrong, I would go with a geo of some sort.

If it is a G.brassiliensis then it is severely stressed, its colours should look more like the one in this pic. Could be a hybrid?
