Need To Make A Decision

Hey, so heres the Dilemma,

I have five golden barbs,

they have been nipping my female angelfish, and they are doing some damage. I have no other tank to move them to, my LFS wont take in fish, and ive advertised on here, and another forum for someone to come and take them off my hands, but still no luck.

I read on the wiki that they can happily live at 20-26 deg, my coldwater tank has six WCMM's in and sits at 21 deg, BUT has two fancy goldfish.

What should I do?

Had the same dilemma. I had tiger barbs abusing my other fish and had to move them to a 2.5 gallon tank that was unheated. They were fine for about a month. Recently put a heater in there though. They seem happier.

Gold/Chineese Barb are supposed to be peaceful as barbs go, although obviously each fish has indivdual persoanality...

How about adding another two or three to the group and see if that keeps bickering "in-house" between members of the group of 7 or 8? Often larger schools help.

Go buy a cheap bucket, put some tank water in it and leave it at the LFS door! (kidding) (we used to have people do that all the time) Why not try a different LFS?

I kept golden barbs in my coldwater tank no problem at all, iam lucky mind, my tank temp for cold never dropped below 15c..usually was up around 18c..

Try another fish shop. even Petco will take fish and they give them away for free. I saw some adult Angels at petco once and asked about them they were droped off by a lady and they were free to anyone that wanted them.

I know my LF takes fish I even got some Water treatment as a trade because the fish I brought back was a $35 pleco. BUt still a good shope will take fish back. Look for another shop. Try petco.
