I think you're gunna have problems with 2.6wpg and no CO2!

even on a 10 gallon, i thought for 10 gallon and smaller the more light the better?

If using CO2 then yeah. If you just use lots of light, CO2 will become a limiting factor in photosynthesising, and then the algae will use the extra light and you will be overtaken.

Just get a cheap CO2 fermentation set, you should get less algae.

And most plants will do well with that light and CO2. :good:

You could easily do a a DIY co2 kit on a 10g, one kit is all that you'd need. A DIY kit would cost a could of quid at the most. Although, I don't think CO2 is essential for a 10g with 2.6WPG. As so say the smaller the tank the more light you need comparatively.

:) You can have a low light tank and then you wouldn't need CO2. Here is a list of plants Java moss, Java fern, Lace Java fern, Narrow leaf Java fern, Most of the Cryptocoryne sp., Most of the Anubias sp., Guppy grass and hornwort. These plants do not require high levels of light or CO2 you also do not need plant specific substarate such as Flourite or Eco-Complete. You can google low light aquarium plants and there are sites that will give you the list and more info. Your shrimp should be happy in these plants. Good luck!
