Well I'm in dyer need of a refit on the downstairs tank (23L), currently I have it set out with some lovely rocks and some fake plants, but I desperately want to add live in there as the room is quite well lit, even when the tank lights are off.

The tank is kept clean with a baby bristlenose named Rupert, who is in there to grow out as soon as I'm sure which sex he is (as I don't want him going with any other of my males, for obvious reasons) and a platoon of Malaysian Trumpet snails.

I'm after some low-light hardy plants that give the tank an asian theme, (think rice-paddies etc), quite simply as it's one of the few themes I don't have.
Plants aren't my forté, although I know the basics cabomba, egeria etc etc.

So basically, to summarise
Need a stem plant that looks asian that can tolerate hard water, lowlight (6w) and without additives...rarity isn't a problem as ebay or my fellow members of my club could help.
So, any ideas?

Also to add to this. Can anyone recommend a good internet store for buying Live plants? I need 2 complete sets. One for a 220ltr tropical and some for a 120ltr coldwwater set-up.

you cannot go wrong with Hygrophila, this plant will grow under any condition. The red hygrophila is of asian origin, however without C02, it'll be difficult to keep the redness in the leaves.

Go and look at my thread in the planted section. I asked about online buying the other day.

do Amzon Swords and Java Ferns look Asian? They do in my head!

well java ferns are from asia, but there not a stem plant, I have just got a java fern myself recently as I told it is very easy to grow with limited light, so are nubias barteri nana but I'm not sure of the origin of these plants
