starting my first sumped tank. it is a 120g with 37g sump.
the tank is in my room, so my only concern is noise, i need some recommendations on a quiet return pump.

also what size should i get? the tank has 2 overflows on each side, i want to connect both return pipes to a 'Y' connecter will one 1200gph pump be strong enough? trying to keep price below $150

here is what i have found.. is there any other pump that i could get for cheaper that will also be very quiet?

give it a chance theres people coming and going all the time
some one will see it

i dont think the problem is the pump making the noise it to do with were the water leaves
the tank to go back into the sump it creates
some sort of vortices that causes the noise

Right, I didn't answer before because you probably already know more than I do.

The attitude is uncalled for.

If you happen to come back, maybe you could help by saying what you want to use the tank for. Different things will like different amounts of flow in the tank. The usual guide seems to be between 10 and 20 times the tank capacity. Usually on the higher end with some corals. You would have 10x turnover so it's possible it'll do. It's possible it won't.

Unfortunately no one here is able to read someones mind just by reading a post. And the salty side here gets a lot less traffic than the freshwater parts. So really what I'm saying is
1. In answer to the question, it depends
2. Be patient
3. Give out the information needed to answer the question
4. Don't give people an attitude just because they aren't working your timescale.
