I got this little guy together with a school of 6 emerald eye rasboras. I bought him on a trip (3 hours away) and now I can't remember what type of fish he is. He's been doing fine in my 20g, and I would consider getting some more, but I don't know what to look for. He's a freshwater fish, about 3/4 inch long.

Thanks for helping.

Yes, it's a scarlet badis.
If you do get more I'd get only one more male & a few females, they might be small but the males are territorial & will fight if each of them doesn't have enough room, they also like a well planted tank

Thank you. Given what you told me, I will probably keep him alone... or follow your advice. The tank is a 20g planted, has galaxy rasboras (x4), emerald eyes (x6) and some kind of transparent version of harlequin rasbora (x4)... plus 2x cherry shrimp. Small, relatively peaceful fish tank.

Yep, it's a male scarlet badis, very pretty! I've though of getting myself one several times.

What do you feed your fish? Scarlet badis are often very fussy fish, with some only accepting live food. If you're lucky, hours will accept feet food. Do your research well and if you do have a fussy scarlet badis and you don't think you can cater to his live foods needs, then consider renaming him.

:) Well, my galaxy rasboras are a bit of a fussy eaters, too, so right now I am mixing frozen shrimp/bloodworms with 2 types of pellets and hikari micro pellets... I try to feed them the best dry and frozen food I can find, and they seem to be doing ok. The only Issue I have is with what sinks to the bottom. I don't have any corries or anything else to take care of that at the moment and all of my guys don't eat off the floor :)
