Need Help Getting Algae

It might be easier and less costly to just get them algae wafers.
How would driving a 100mile round trip to my nearest fish store to pay 3bucks for a bag of algae wafers be cheaper than finding some way to encourage algae growth in my tank...for free.
Order them online along with your other flakes/food.

There is an old saying: "Be careful what you ask for because you might just get it." The biggest problem with trying to grow algae for otos (or any other fish) is that different fish eat different types of algae. Otos love brown algae but it is primarily found in new tanks from the silica. They also are only going to eat what is on the plant leaves and tank walls. You could add more lighting, overfeed, etc. but most likely, you will up with some type algae that the otos won't eat like the dreaded BGA which nothing eat and it's extremely difficult to get rid of. I would definitely not ever attempt to start algae growth in a tank for fear of what I would end up with. Wafers or veggies on a clip are the best way to go.
