Need Help Asap

Ok your probably going to laugh at me for this but I`ve never had this happen so I need advice.
I just moved my tank so after putting all the tank water in buckets and moving thetank and readding water, etc.
I went to rinse some the filter i some of the tank water left (added a little fresh water as water change was due tomorrow). Anyways the thing fell apart!

I obviously need to go buy a new one but is there any way to avoid a new cycle?

Your sponge/media fell apart?

I guess as long as you keep your sponge/media in tank conditions you could put some of it in your new filter, but it might take a week or so for it to settle back into being fully cycled.

I presume you mean the filter fell apart. But if you still have your sponges, keep them wet and if you have an air pump try to set that up so the bubbles are flowing through the sponges.

Not the actual filter, the insert part. It ripped right off the plastic casing.

Yeah...I can't work out which bit is broken.

Anyway, advice still stands. To keep bacteria alive they need to be wet and oxygenated, so do your best.

It's the filter cartridge inside. It ripped off the frame and I just clipped it back on.
I clipped it as best as I could so I could run the filter still.

I would get a new filter and clip the old filter material to the new one. You will in effect seed the new filter! You'll probably see a mini cycle once you remove the old filter material (maybe in 2-3 weeeks? Someone with more experience may know). But still better than a whole cycling process!
