Hello, I was hoping someone could identify these fish for me. My brother bought them a few years ago for my dad's office tank and I have been trying to find out what they are but had no luck.

This one is about 10cm in length. He is usually silver but turns black when when the lights go off as seen here. He also has a red glow in the centre of his body. A very nice fish.

There are two of these. One is rather large, about 15cm and the other is about 10cm. They looks a bit 'carp-like' and have whiskers.

Any help would be lovely

Found out the top one is a Distichodus Noboli. Anyone know more about them?

...

The Silver Distichodus is a good choice for a community aquarium containing medium size fish. One drawback is that plants will not last too long as it roots around in the gravel or may even nibble them.

When it is young it shows red in the fins but this colouration slowly disappears being replaced by black in some areas. The body is a beautiful shiny silver with the scales having a mirror-like quality.
Food

Although vegetable foods should be fed regularly it will also take live, frozen and dry foods.

Breeding

Not bred in an aquarium.

Sex Differences

Not known.

Distribution

Lower Zaire.

Habitat

Rivers and streams. :good: hehe
