Need An Algae Eater

I have started to get some algae on my front screen however I think its because of my tank being in my living room near a window, well I have blinds so I can turn them around to a different direction. However my tank has quite a few scratches on the front screen but inside my tank, and since I have setted up my ocean rocks it hid the scratches more and didn't bother me, but now the algae has been growing inside the scratches and I can see them more now. How could I get rid of them? I have African cichlids, but would it still be possibly for me to have big snails in with them that wouldn't get eaten and would clear the algae away? including when the ph would be higher, however I could lower the hardness of the water. any possible suggestions, also scrubbing them out is quite hard including the ones that are just on the screen and not in the scratches. ALso any suggestions for fish that would help however, i'm not too keen on pleco's since I have white sand and a lot of poop shows with them. If I had an external filter then maybe yes but only have the '4 fluval' filter (and not the fluval 4).

What do you mean by "screen"? I'm assuming you mean the glass/acrylic front of the aquarium. And you have scratches on it that are growing algae in them? And you cannot scrub the algae out of the scratches? If I'm understanding your predicament correctly, I would think if you can't get the algae out of the scratches by hand, whether using an algae pad, Q-tips, etc., that a fish or snail wouldn't be able to get it either.

Yeah thats exactly what I mean algae on the front glass inside the tank in the scratches. Actually I haven't actually tried properly scrubbing it out so they maybe a chance that I would be able to get rid of. I was looking for a new tank but since I have put these rocks in it really has covered up the scratches well but now it shows but its not too bad as the rocks do have algae on them from before setting up. Definitely look better though with them gone. Would algae normally go away or will it have to be scrubbed off or eaten away by a fish?

how about trying a different aproach i have and it works ............... after many years of going down the route of common plecs the supposed fish keepers friend they are just poo machines poo produces nitrate which feeds algae so vicous circle try adding a Hygrophila Difformis / Water Wisteria

If you have problem water and need to control algae - use this plant... it really improves the water by sucking up all the Nitrates and Nitrites.
works for me i can even recomend a supplier the cheapest ive ever found for plants but im new to this forum and dont know if they allow you to name suppliers so if someone can let me know on that i will let you know who i use for plants .
