Whats goin on everyone the names Tropic and I love tropical fish gents...
Thing is I have homed and cared for many tropical fish in my time of starting the hobby (nearly 4 years) so I reckon i'm pretty good when it comes to choosing fish and maintenance. The follwoing tropical fish I can best recall to the extent of my knowledge are the following (bear with my spelling): - African Knife Fish, Highfin Pangasiuses, Palecoctemoses, Ghost Fish, Albino and Orange Oscars and AngelFish.........and goldfish for tank testing lol. Thing is, I enjoy buying small fish (preferably just after they start gaining natural colour in their skin) because I enjoy watching them grow and just be a general pleasure to watch in my tank when i'm either chilling or have company over...
Thing is I'm just very very rusty when it comes to spotting signs of my tropical fish being inactive for some reasons or other and I tend to get very curious and neurotic if my tropics arent swimming around the tank like normally, my philosophy is old but fits my fishtank community..."If your a swimming fish your a happy fish" haha i know its lame but gotta start somewhere.
ANYWAYS, I bought 3 brand new fish yesterday from the regulars, HIGHFIN (guppy), OSCAR (guppy) and AFRICANKNIFE (guppy). Until now my (experimental) goldfish and the guppy oscar seem to be swimming around the most together with no problems of nipping or fighting over food of any kind. My KNIFEfish occasionally comes out and swims around at night when the lights are off and mainly when it looks for frozen bloodworms in the tank which it enjoys because it races to the top to catch ALL the red parasites before my oscar gets em ;D hehe, finally....i've come to my problem.
i come to my HIGHfin Pangasius (guppy). I just don't know what to do with him gents, he usually lies at the bottom of the tank near rocks or the plants and under the bridges and isn't very social within the community. Every so often if i'm lucky i seem it racing around in the tank and going through the bubbles from the bubble brick. He doesn't look sick or in pain but i'm just curious as to why he may not be as social as my knifefish, (experimental)goldfish and the oscar.
Could it be the tempareture is too high? (set to 28 degress C.) Could he be intimidated by one or the fish? Help me out here please
MUCH APPRECIATED
