Came home from work this morning to find my african albino clawed frog missing, its tank mates are 6 platies and a common pleco (rougly 5", there is a small gap in tank were inlet wires to filter go (tank is juwel Koral).
Have searched everywhere for it inside and out of tank but to no avail, is it possible the plec has eaten it ?

soory should add frog was about 2" body size longer if legs included.

They are capable of exiting the tank if water lvl allows , are you sure the expired inside or outside the tank??
Could have made a long trip if exited b4 succumbing , truly farther than you think.
Surprised that a clawed would have left such a food source as your stock was just great fodder for him or her..Stocking totally useful to the frog.. sad really as frog should be the winner here, nothing that should be housed with it to begin with..
Platies?? with a clawed?? they should have all been killed here ... left ripped open for a horrible discovery.. No joke
The pleco is a total non issue,, Compared

+1, I've had them run away before as well...not as often as my crabs...

Only had the frog for a week, he was given to me from a friend who's tank broke, so was just rehoming for a while before moving him on.

On further inspection it does seem the the escape route is very tight so not sure he has escaped, plus i still can't find him out of the tank anywhere !

So i still very confused where he has gone ?

They also hide quite well. They get under things and stay. Since the frog can hold his breath for a good long time. I've timed 20 minutes but I've read that it's much longer that this. It's often difficult to know they are in the tank at all. Have you moved anything around to look?

Pull the gravel away from the base of the filter and see if you can slide your finger under the filter, some Juwel filters are about 1-2cm off the base of the tank. Might he have dug himself in under there?

Failing that, take out and check all plants and ornaments.

update the situation, done a 50% water change today so i could have a good route around in tank and nothing turned up, took all plants and decorations out plus tank is not very big. Scoured every nook and cranny in my lounge where the tank is based and there is no sign of him anywhere. So i can only presume the plec hass eaten him, but have read they only normally scavenge on dead fish unless they are starving ???

I've not had that experience with them. For me the plecos went after dead fish pretty quickly and I fed them daily.
