I recently bought two mystery snails. The local place didnā€™t seem too great. Anyway I didnā€™t notice that one had a shell issue. I considered returning him but I figured I could give a better life hopefully. In one day I see a change near the cleft. Is it better? Worse? Another issue? First pic was yesterday. Second tonight.

It's probably a genetic defect or the snail was meant to be a twin and the shell didn't divide properly but that is very uncommon, so most likely a defect and nothing to worry about.

Thanks! Facebook made it look dire. I need to stay off their groups!

I donā€™t mind a not so pretty shell. Imperfections donā€™t phase me. I was just worried about it affecting health or quality of life.

The snail itself looks pretty health and its antennas are out and the snail is moving around. As long as it keeps doing that you're good to go. :)
