this just started growing on my driftwood one day i dont know what it is or where it came from...

thats weird... i think it may be some type of algae but thats just a guess

It is Vesicularia dubyana, commonly called Java Moss.

thank you lateral line. do u think it came in along with another plant or fish? how big will it get?

it's not such a bad thing at my LFS you can buy driftwood with that on it for $50-$60 it might have been starting to grow on it when you bought it

Yes, quite possibly on the wood to start with, or a tiny fragment came in with something else, only needs a small piece. If you let it, it can completely fill a tank.
