Looks like a Cichlasoma salvini to me?

Salvinis have gold in 'em, def looks like a convict cross...

Young salvini have no yellow in them.. but those look too big to be young salvini.

its about 2.5 in to 3 inchs now

the small fish in the right of the 3rd pic is the same kinda fish but with less sparkle and smaller.

dont tell me how to care for my fish just tell me what cross it is.

Im almost positive thats no salvini, im with whoever said it was a texasxflowerhorn cross, that would be my best guess.

They have had some more of those at my lfs. They are actual flowerhorns. They look like mini's from the big flowerhorn tank they have. Also, they have farley large bumps on their heads.

It doesn't have a flowerhorn face... Looks a lot like a texas face..

Who knows.. most likely some texas, and possibly some flowerhorn or some other cichlid.

i found a pic that looks just like my cichlid!!!!!
some times its bottom jaw is black.
its no a hybrid.
or maybe........

i went back to the fish store and there saying its a flowerhorn.
i told them how can it be a flowerhorn if it dosent have a flower near its horn like most flowerhorns have?
they said its a new kind of flowerhorn is this true??

havent been on here inawhile but thats not a salvini cuz i jsut recently foudna lake full of salvini and trust me he looks nothign look liek it salvini has red aqua gold and black on them and the markgin of a jaguar cichlid that looks nothgin like it its looks liek a flowerhorn mix bro maybe a new strain or somethign but deffiently looks liek they jsut took to random fish and put it together its nice though iwanna see that thing at adult hood

i wanna see it all grown up too.
this new flowerhorn is not bad.
it has good temper. never wants to pick a fight just wants to swim around.

That cichlid that had black in it looks likes a con, jack dempsy cross... only cuz Jacks go black when stressed... I'd say yours is a texas convict cross, not a "new flowerhorn".

i found out its a red texas!!!!
its starting to show some red in the gills and fins.
really light red on the scales tho.
but im still so happy!!! i got 3 red texas frys for only 3 bucks each!!!
