Hi Everyone.

some of you may already know there has been a TFF pass the parcel going on for a few months with a massive sheet of Mylar.

bloozoo2 started with it, sent it onto me, i passed it onto gf225.... where did it go from there??

the reason i ask is (damn it) i could do with a 2 foot square. if there is any left would whoever has it either cut me off a piece or post the parcel back to me. i will pass it on again i promise. :D

cheeky i know but if you dont ask.....you dont get. (and my 50G would appreciate it)

I believe it went to sif and from there possibly on to smithrc
Good luck !

I bought some on ebay, it was buy 2 meters get 2 free - I'm sure I've got too much. If you can't track down the TFF mylar, PM me your address and I'll chop a bit off and send it to you.

If you're still stuck or Sarah's used all of hers, I've just found another piece 26 x 20 ".

BUMP!!!!

Where did this end up??
I'm looking to line the flaps on my Trigon 350 :)

I might still have a bit left, but not enough for two large lid flaps (I think).
But the rest I circulated, I don't have a clue.

im confused.
whats mylar??

It's like silver tin-foil colour type paper. Generally used to help grow plants as it's highly reflective and increases the light output. Many people use it to stick to the inside of their tank lids to increase the light (which helps the plants to grow better).

But smithrc, to be honest, I gave up on the stuff. It never stuck "quite right" and after a while became manky and some of it even fused with my lid :S which was then really hard to scrape off.

Reflectors are definitely the way to go :flex:

For those interested, it can be found on eBay (in vast quantities!)

fair enough. I've got reflectors on the longer tubes but they are only 3/4 the length of the tube and they are too long for the shorted tubes... might have to buy the right tools for the job.

Reading this thread just reminded me of an "Oldie but Goodie" that was also about mylar:

Wow, that was quite an interesting thread. I happen to have a BIB of Hardy's Chardonnay in my fridge now. The BIB last a LONG time, meaning I drink a glass occasionally, and I think that box is over 6 months old now. I just had a glass last night and it was as perfect!
