Have they taken a swab of the area and sent it off for culturing?
If they haven't, and they are simply loading you up with anti-biotics, it might not fix the problem. You need to know that the anti-biotics you are taking will actually treat the specific species of bacteria that is destroying the tissue.
I had friends in a shop that got Fish TB in their fingers and their doctors put them on numerous anti-biotics and it didn't make any difference. Eventually the doctors took swabs and got them onto the correct medication but it took a lot longer to treat than it should have.
