anyways, i have loitered round these ways now for a short while, and have been quiet as i had post review, but as I am now free to spam the boards I thought I would make a thread showing my tank and its progress.

Bought the tank off someone on here (sorry I forgot who!) but is in excellent condition, and an absolute bargain at £100

I removed the filtration system that is built in and decided to go for an external one. Heater was cracked (our fault broke on way home  ) so also replaced that.

got the other half (my lovely slave :p ) to clean the sand for me:

added a tetratec 1200 :D

more powerful than needed, but more filtration is better as you can never have enough, allowing me to have more fish :p

I LOVE watching the cats/corys flitting round sifting the sand as they go. its really funny as i did have the sand laid out as i wanted it, but the cats have put it how they want it. I wake up every morning to a new hole been dug lol

plans are;

to add more corys
possibly add more decoration
some harlequins
more guppies
a pleco
backing of sorts (still undecided)

I will keep you up to date

nice tank, but do you have Endlers Livebearer with Guppies? They cross breed, and shouldn't be kept toghether because endlers "pure" strain is getting sort of endangered  in the aquarium hobby 'cos male guppies look better to female endlers than male endlers. Do you have all males (I saw male guppies)?

But overrall nice tank :good:

Surely if the fish are to stay within Haych's tank, this would not be an issue?

Nice tank, are you planning to stock with more fish?

very nice tank needs more plants imo :good:

yeah its what i was thinking. I havent done much with it yet, as i wanted everything to settle first. i literally took the items out of the 60l and plopped them in here. i may even be changing the decor

what he said. Yes I do have mostly male guppies, I have I think 2 females, and 2-3 female fry. I don't plan on breeding so what is the issue, even if they do cross breed? I don't plan on selling any babies that "could" appear

And Ebbo, yeah I am stocking with more fish soon. I just wanted my inhabitants of the 60l to settle in first. I didn't want to put too much stress on the tank

They will definitely breed (they're livebearers), but it's really up to you what you do-after all it's not my tank. Just wanted to let you know incase you didn't know and didn't want them to cross :good: .

thank you, i appreciate that. But no, it doesnt bother me as such, but i dont have female endlers, just female guppies. but i did know they would cross breed.

i actually tried to have all male guppies originally, but a couple of VERY pretty females slipped in (LFS thought they were male but couldnt be bothered to argue it) and hense I have fry. so, no doubt, inbreeding has occured too :(

so therefore, my boys will stay pure :D

:good: seems to me like you have a nice tank set up so far. :D And also you should get pretty fry from pretty females :D which is good cos lots of people wish that female guppies looked as nice as males :good: .

unfortunately, the original females died a while ago, some of their babies live on (the two stunning males with spots and leopard patterned tails)

the females i have atm are plain :S

i am thinking of getting some more today hopefully :D

but thanks for the kind words

oh, and admittedly, i didnt know endlers were endangered, i was bidding on some on ebay, but my sister bought me these for my birthday, she only got me boys as the girls were much larger and boring apparently!

i came down this morning after the corys had a wild night;

and i have a video of my neons chasing a laser pen, you cant see the pen, but you can get the general idea of where it is as the neons and corys chase it

Neons

thought I would add more pics, as I went out and bought some harlequins, neons, 2 corys and 2 plecos. I have been naughty I know, especially getting a sailfin and leopard, BUT i have plans of getting a bigger tank, and now i have the perfect excuse, i can go to kev and say "darling, that pleco you and i both love needs a new home....."

first new cory (cannot remember his name) I also got another pepper

When the plecs get braver, and dont mind displaying to me I will add better pics

thats all for now!

Right, last night, my WONDERFUL other half Kev let me buy a second tank, a rio vision 240

vision.jpg

vision1.jpg

it comes complete with external eheim filter, fish, heater and standard internal filter, got for a whopping £175! bargain IMO as i dont have to get an external filter either

and yesterday we went and bought some more female guppies as the ones we had were being harrassed, and a male betta, I did call him Shylo as he seemed very shy, yet today, he is happily flaring for the mirror (cant get a pic properly though as the water levels are high and his head gets chopped off in pics)

DSC_0813.jpg

Plans are:

move current stock of 180l into 240l, and adapt the 180l into a betta tank, thinking either 2 males, one each side and a sorority in the middle, or 3 males at one end, a sorority at the other end  CHOICES CHOICES!

will keep you updated :good:

right, tank has been relocated to the other end of the lounge as the 260l (not 240 as i originally thought) is going in its place. (will try to add pics of the two at a distance eventually)

I did set up the vision originally, but ALL the fish that i bought with the tank unfortunately didnt make it after the ordeal they had been through. So, just incase, the tank was emptied AGAIN and has been left that way as we want to boil whatever MAY be in there germ-wise. (kev aint too impressed mind as he spent ages sorting it for me

So, have added some more leopard cories, and a couple of female guppies to try and even the ratio a bit (still not there yet!!), and added the backing (temporarily stuck) as the back needs a clean. I thought I may as well do it all properly when its emptied to sort for the bettas.

some pics:

the breeding net currently holds two female guppies, a new one that I bought the weekend that seems to have been VERY upset by the travelling from LFS, then in 180l, then the rio was moved, which included a massive water change, so shes a little stressed to say the least, and a heavily pregnant harrassed female too (they both seem happier in there as its quiet!)

will soon be moving all inhabitants to the vision, and making the rio into a betta tank to house four males and a sorority of girls - kinda to this idea;

the vision has the same kind of backing as the rio to go on, but i refuse to add ANYTHING to the tank before its moved and cleaned again lol

Good looking tanks,

Can I recommend you try some loaches?

They are so active and follow eachother around all day long. Its brilliant to watch.

Good luck with your tanks,

All the best

Tim.
