My Tank

Hey guys.

I'm pleased to say my tank is in superb condition at the minute. I have 12 small fish in a 60L Biorb Life:

5 Zebra Danios
4 Neon Tetra's
2 Glowlight Tetra's
1 Small Gibbicep Pleco (2-3 inches)
A few Snales knocking about

Im now at the point where i want to add more fish to my tank, not a great white or turtle just another group of Tetra's or maybe Danio's. (woudln't mind a loach, or two if possible)
I want to go about adding fish the right way, how many should I add? And just generally how to go about it to cause minimum disruption.


Any suggestions of what to add will be welcomed with open arms, Im all ears, or eyes.

That plec REALLY doesn't belong in that tank, it will get way too big...

IMHO If that plec is removed you still only have room for a few more tetras/danios for the long term

Do you have plans to get a bigger tank to support more fish in the long term? I am assuming all the fish you have right now are not full adult size?

I understand your concern, i already have an agreement with my uncle who is a very expericanced fish-keeper that i will give it him once he says it is to big for the tank.

My Dad has considered getting a new tank, but not anytime soon.

As for the fish being adult size, i wouldn't like to comment. Sure they are small now but i can't see them growing by much.

you could add 2 or 3 rummy nose tetra, these are fun to watch and are compatible to all the fish in your tank, maybe if you dont like the sound of rummy nose then you could add some more neon tetra they might like a bigger shoal.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have been considering increasing the amount of Neon's in my tank. I will also look at the rummy nose tetras

you obviously know the plec can;t stay but I;d suggest getting shut of it now as it will release more room maybe for tetras plus plecs emit a lot of waste etc
Loaches are a no no due to the size they grow and to see the best of them would need a bigger tank

I always think that tetras look better in larger shoals ofsame kind rather than 2s and 3s of different types

Thats a shame, i quite fancied a loach of some sort... never mind.

The plec will be released in due time, its waste is not effecting my tank to be honest, but i understand.

And yeah not only will the Tetras look better in bigger sholes but they will aslo prefer to be in a bigger shole.

Once you have more space after the plec is gone you could increase the numbers of your existing fish, maybe add 3 more Neons?

A gibbiceps plec will outgrow that tank in 1-2 months, any longer in there and you will end up stunting its growth. I'd recommend you rehome it asap and get a plec that is suitable for the tank, you'd probably get away with either a BN plec of a bulldog plec.

I must say i am considering a new project, including a new, bigger tank.

Im getting some money coming my way soon and thats what i would like to spend it on.

That or like i said earlier in the thread i will hand over the plec to my uncle.
