the water once was nice and clear. now its nasty green, i did a huge water change that cleared it up for a whille but its green again, plus my fish are boring. ugh. i need to redo it. the tank gets a huge amount of natural light so thats a prob. ugh its a 29gallon with serouis probs. we have 3 small angels, a bristlenose pleco, a another pleco (no idea what it is) 2 mystery snails, 2 shrimp of some sort, a catfish that silver w/black spots (i forgot what their called sorry)3 glow light tertas, and two bettas. i would like to keep the angels, snails and get rid of the rest. im thinking dwarf chiclids  to replace the rest. or i was thinking of tearing everything down and setting up a high tech planted 75 gallon tank (or bigger) and use the 29 as a sump to hide the equipment. don't know very annoyed. any ideas? plus how do i get rid of the nasty green water? im going insane. this tank is so gross!!!!   could someone please give me some points ideas anything. the tanks changes or im done.

How often have you been doing water changes and what % per time did you change?

once a month. 50-75% at a time. anything besides lots of light would cause the green water and is there a pinned topic about green water some where?

The green water issue is definitely from the natural light source, ands as long as the tank is where it is, there really isn't anything you can do to stop it from growing. The only thing I can recommend is moving the tank, or to control the algae do more frequent water changes (20% a week) and use an algae killing product to get rid of what's in there now. You can add a couple Oto's in order to keep the algae under control better, as the two plecs aren't doing a good enough job obviously. Also, how do you have 2 bettas in the tank? They'd tear each other to shreds, regardless of the fish's sex as two males cannot cohabitate a tank, period and for a sorority tank you'd need at least 4 females (preferably more), and if it was one of each, they'd still tear each other up. Also I don't know how the bettas are getting along with the angels and vice versa as angels are a type of cichlid and thus not good tank mates for bettas.:dunno: Also, the catfish you are referring to is, I believe, a spotted pictus and the shrimp are probably either ghost shrimp, cherry shrimp, or amano shrimp, as they are three of the most common shrimp you can find in LFSs. :)
