Around the pot, you could maybe have 'water sprite' planted around it or some sort of sword plant? If they go in with the moss?

Maybe you can have a few 'stone' or pebble patches dotted about? Or have a coconut cave or 2 either side of the surf boards?

I think a nice pot would be too hard to find, so I may just buy some bogwood, seeing as it is cheap and REALLY easy to get hold of.

My diagrams get worse lol... :lol:

Look in garden centres for their plastic pots or 2nd hand antique shops, or try freecycle? Get some reall good bargains out there!

If you are going to have plants, don't clean your tank. The debris will serve as nutrition for your plants! Add some anubias, those are lovely and easy to keep plants.

Even if you have cories, you can still have some fish for the mid and upper level...

Will I need a Co2 system for the amount of plants I am planning on getting?

Not with the plants you are planning on having. I personally find it too much hassle anyway. I have a 180 litre bowfront, and am not having CO2, just dose some ferts. regularly.

I've been advised to use 4ml Tropica plant nutrition+ Every other day and 4ml Easycarbo every day. Is that sufficient?

Well, today my Fluval 205 came, but I have discovered it doesn't fit in my tank...

The reason it doesn't fit is there is a small (5cm) ledge around the inside of my tank of which the hood sits on, Due to this ledge I cannot assemble the "rim connectors" on my tank.

I have looked into removing one side of this ledge but it looks pretty hard seeing as all the sides overlap each other...

Its time to do some thinking, otherwise I have wasted £65 and will have to spend a further £20/30 on a internal filter. :-(

Just a note on your sketches.

Whatever you choose as your centrepiece, don't put it right in the middle, move it slightly to one side, a third of the way across the tank from one end.

Now its time to wait for the media to mature, do you think its best to put my previous media in it or have both running?

If you still want a pot as your centrepiece, PAH usually have some nice ones with holes for fry to hide in. I'm not sure how large they go though. Otherwise try a garden centre pot - you could crack or break it for interesting effects.

Depends on whether you want to keep using your other filter or not. If you want to keep using it, let them run both, and otherwise put the media in your new external.

I'm going to move the media tonight, then things will be back on track

Tomorrow I plan to buy some sand from Argos and have a look in Pets At Home and other shops for a nice pot. If not I plan to buy some bogwood online. :good:
