Wow all you betta lot would flip over in shock if you saw how bettas are imported and dealt with in wholesalers.

If the fish isn't suitable for sale it will be killed, no not with clove oil, probably dumped in a bag of water and chucked in the freezer.

Thats inhumane. Savages. :grr:

That's more humane than many places, they often just get tossed in the trash, dead or alive.

There's often more than one way to deal with situations in aquatics, and with enough experience you realize that what works for one person often doesn't work for another. If the original poster can make these stocking rates and tank sizes work, it would make sense to try to find out why it is working for this person, and not for others.

It would also be nice if someone who has kept these stocking rates long term could speak up, and what the end result as far as growth rate and life span was experienced.

One word sums up this thread:

same here, especially i splash my finger to allow oxygen in  best thing i've heard on this forum so far...

face facts people, no matter what advise you give if it is not what others wish to hear it is like whispering in a hurricane.

Very true. Why do they post asking for advice and then proceed to slate every reply, citing their superior knowledge? Not saying that that's happened in this thread but it happens all too often here.

You do wonder why people bother posting in the first place though if they feel the need to constantly make excuses for their post - 'I know the tank is too small/I am going to upgrade this/don't slate me but' and so forth. What else are people going to say? Good job on being a poor fishkeeper?

Not sure I like the whole fish are inferior animals vibe in this thread either. While it is perhaps true that you will never have the same depth of feeling for a fish as you would a larger animal like a dog, that's no reason to provide them with inadequate care. You should provide to the best of your ability a suitable environment for any animal you keep - or don't keep them at all.

hmmmm it must be my computer is deleting lines in the ops post again because I am not seeing anywhere in the orginal post where he asked for help. the op was simply sharing his tanks and you betta lot flipped out and had to be right this is just rediculous. I am sorry that you can't accept that in life people don't always share the same point of view on how to keep bettas. does that mean that I am a horrible fish keeper because I view tham as nothing more than expensive feeders? no it simply means that I do no share your passion for your chosen species of fish. but what you guys must consider is as Tolak pointed out is that it may have been working for him for a long period of time. the op also stated that he was doing 100% water changes every 3-4 days and imo thats better than what was suggested in many post on this thread.
