I highly doubt thats a zebra plec. It has the wrong markings and from what I can tell isnt a destinct White/Black colouring like all zebra plecs are.

I am unable to properly identify it but it is most likely some type of tiger pecoltia or plec.

Ben

p.s. I suggest you re-size the pictures as they are massive.

No, it's not a zebra. Zebras have horizontal as well as vertical stripes on the body.

What you have there is a very pretty example of a pecoltia.

Very pretty indeed.

Male or Female? how can you tell?

With most plecs it is hard to tell if it is male or female. First we will need to indentify it first.

Looks like a L168 as suggested by nitro. it's head does not look broad enough for it to be a L052 from those pictures but the positioning of the eyes makes it look as though it could be. My money is on it being one of the butterfly plecs (not a hillstrea loach, obviously).

You are lucky that it is a smaller kind of plec but you are very overstocked. :/ I would not add one plec to a tank under 30gallons never mind 2 and while I am at it, what is going on with the koi in a 6gallon tank?! With both koi and plecs, it i not only about that size of the fish but also the amount of waste they produce. I understand that the tanks are planted but you could still experience problems with parameters.

Nice plec though. I have an L052 myself.

I'm not sure it is a butterfly plec - your pics don't seem to show the stripe gping through the eye although it is difficult to tell.

Cheese Specialist, about the koi... well i was given them to bring up by my gramp, im probably going to get them a 3 or 4ft tank, and once there big enough they will be returned into a pond.

Also with the plec's im hoping at christmas time, i will be a owner of at least a 4ft tank which i will put them in.

Also about fish waste, yep plecs do poop alot, currently i have 2 filters in my 20gallon tank, and i will be doing quite frequent water changes and gravel cleans.

Oh yeh, personally i wouldnt have bought this plec because of the price tag, but it was given me as a gift so i couldnt really say no :D.

Nice plec btw. (forgot to add in my previous post)

 :)
