Heya,

I have just changed the layout of my tank below and was just wondering what everyone thought and if they have had any suggestions on how to improve it at all.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It is a fluval roma 125 with:

1 German Blue Ram
6 Glowlight Tetras
6 Cardinal Tetras
6 Cherry Shrimp (although I can only find 4 atm)

I would like to add some more Cardinal Tetras at some point as well.

It looks really nice:) I really really like the stone in the center with the grass round it, very natural-looking

Thanks :) I tried to make it natural looking, I am hoping that once the plants have grown a bit then it will look a bit better and more natural!

Ok, plant list:

Attached to the bogwood, java fern
Front left - crypt of some sort I believe
Around the rock is hairgrass I believe (Eleocharis acicularis)
Flame moss - I wouldn't mind getting some more of this, I thought it was going to be more when I ordered it
Front right - Twisted Vallis - I have always had trouble growing this so fingers crossed it will survive and thrive

I was thinking about getting 4 more cardinal tetra to add to the 6 I already have, do you reckon its a good idea or possibly add a friend for my ram as he seems a bit lonely at times. Although I don't think I'd want a female and male ram as I don't really want them breeding, although I can't keep two of the same species...decisions decisions :p

I am also considering getting some more moss at the front of the tank for a sort of carpet for my shrimp, what do you reckon? Is it best to keep the same type of moss or potentially mix and match it?

Front left is Anubias nana, and it should be raised so that the rhizome does not rot and kill the plant. Anubias does not tolerate having the rhizome under the substrate at all. It is much the same as the java fern in that respect.
The cardinals sound like a good addition to your tank Ri-Za.

Many thanks oldman47, I have raised the Anubias Nana as requested, its been growing well as it is so it shouldn't have caused a problem!

I was considering 4/6 more cardinals which should go down well and maybe 1 gold ram? What do you reckon?

Any other suggestions on stocking or scape is appreciated :)

Looks good, though IMO you could do with some tall plants at the back
Riccia is good for carpeting, though you need to attach it to mesh so it doesn't float

Thanks,
I have never really had any success with tall plants, hence why I never bothered this time around, any suggestions on tall easy growing plants?
I have some flame moss on some mesh at the front, I want to add some more though as I was expecting more when I ordered it. I'd probably cover more of the front some more for my shrimp to enjoy as they don't come out too much atm.

Looks nice =D

Think the extra tetra will look good, I have 15 in my tank and they really shoal well!

Thanks :)

I think the extra tetra will look great, I will probs go for 12 overall as they already seem to shoal quite well as it is :) should I add all 6 at once or two lots of 3?

What do you guys reckon about adding a gold ram as well as a friend for my german blue ram? He seems pretty lonely at times and I'd like to make him feel a bit better as he doesn't always come out too much during the day!

I was just going to post that! They could tie both of those plants to a small piece of driftwood and put it right back in the same spot.

Thanks for all your help so far guys :)

If I was to add an additional 4/6 cardinal tetras, would I be able to add anything else or would I be fully stocked? I wouldn't mind a gold ram as well but unsure atm, any suggestions?

6 cardinals and a ram would be fine. I see you have a GBR already so why not get a companion for him/her, they do great in pairs
