my tank is a ten gal with 1 ture perc clown and a yellow clown goby. 15lbs of LR and 10lbs of argonite sand. my cleaning crew includes 3 hermits, 1 turbo snail, 3 astraea snails, 3 nassarious, 1 arrow/spider crab. corals i plant to have are just softies such as zoo, mushrooms, etc. anyway what would guys think would look best in my tank.

Although i love firefish, I chose the goby as they are less prone to jumping and this means they are easier to care for in smaller tanks should you have no lid.

OOPs....sorry...I vote no more fish. I think 2 is fine for a 10G. If you are going to push it...I'd vote purple firefish. Honestly, if you are planning a reef, I wouldn't add more. SH

Agree with what SH has said, however I would never put more than 2 fish in a 10 gallon. So I vote for no more fish (sorry).

thanks. one thought that has come to mind is that liveaquaria.com says the hi fin red banded goby grows to 2 inches and the clown govy 1.5 inches and a true perc clown 3 inches so in theory wouldnt the hi fin red banded goby and the clown goby make only a little bit more waste than another clown. which i have been told i can keep a pair of clowns in a 10 gal.

I'd say no more fish also. I'm going with 3 fish in my 16gallon before i call it a day.
I did vote a purple firefish though.....

The inch rule does not apply well to marine systems. Remember, only SMALL amounts of nitrates can harm your nano system. Although the fish are small, you have to FEED THEM. Gobies often need frequent feedings. This will raise your nitrates on top of the nitrates converted over from ammonia that the fish secrete. I cannot overemphasize this.

FW rule bending does not work well in nano systems. Although I sympathize with your desire to have many beautiful fish in your tank, this is the restriction of keeping such a small marine tank. If you push these limits, the results are the following:

"Help, my corals are closed"

or

" My fish disappeared, can someone help"

Think twice and remember the nano tank warning, "Beauty happens slowly; disaster comes quickly". SH

thanks SH. i know the rule doesnt work in nanos i just thought that since there combined size is similar to 1 clown and im able to have a pair of clowns in my tnak then i would be able to have a third small fish in my tank but i had forgot that gobies like frequent small feedings daily.
