any name ideas?? :good: :hyper:

hehe she will grow to be about 4 or so inches so she will only be little for a little while. ;)

hmmm... i was thinking of giving her the name of one of my first crays. she was Kabob's tank mate when they were young. them one morning i woke up to see her with no face or legs. her name was Gawumpki (a polish food i think, only spelled differently, sounds like ga-wump-ki) i just love the way it sounds. i like unusual names like that... so any other unusual names are good

I love crayfish, i named my first crayfish rodney! Its sooooo cool when they molt. Heres a tip, DONT remove the molted shell, they eat it for the nutrients! Congrats

it is cool, and yes i do leave the shell in... except for the claws which i take off and compare the sizes :p

with plenty of REAL crayfish, to choose from. why get one of these abominations?

they carry crayfish plague. and, as far as can be seen, are as unnatural as a BIG MAC. after all they were found in an aquarium in Germany and have never been found occurring, naturally, anywhere in the world.

Ideal habitat?
10ukg of boiling water.
fortunately illegal to keep here in the UK.

i thought they were cool and they do reproduce by cloning naturally, and crayfish are very healthy. yes they are illegal in some place, but not here. i just think they are interesting

there is nothing natural about the Marble cray.
as for interesting/cool. not sure a tank full of clones will be in any way interesting. they all look and act the same. and they all carry a deadly plague (deadly to crayfish).
ultimately, to me, it the fact its a totally unnatural critter. along with its ability to destroy entire eco systems, that is.
the Red Signal Crayfish has, all but, destroyed the UK native White claw.
the signal is a puppy in comparison to the harm marbles could do. (and not just in the UK)

that is because immature people put them in lake and ponds then they take over and kill all the other species that were in there. i am not planing on releasing mine into pond..........

think what you want......... :|

it wasn't armature keepers who let the critters go. it was commercial farmers who caused the problem.
and every drop of water you change. is infested with Crayfish Plague.
can you, honestly, say. you can get rid, via sales or giving away. several thousand baby Marbles, per year?
and, if you can, can you guarantee all of them will go to homes with "mature" keepers?
