My New Betta

Hellooooo, I got a new Betta on Saturday and I popped him into his tank and all he has done since then is lie at the bottom of the tank looking miserable

I have checked the water quality and that it fine...

Could it be to do with that when I bought him he has in a little vase full of cold water??

Is this normal??

What is the temperature in his tank?

He is in a 30 litre tank

I don't have them to hand.... but they were abosulutly fine

I think it's 26c

I put the bag in the water for 10/15mins, then i put a little hole in the bag and let some of the tank water in for about another 10/15mins and then I popped him in.

Are there any marks on him?

Nope no marks

Hmm, we really do need a full set of tank stats. Without those we wont be able to advise on what could or couldn't be wrong with him.

I have my whole cemstry set out every week

When I bought him he looked as well as could be expected stuck in a tiny vase filled with cold water

His fins and body look fine.... maybe he is scared

Why are you so resistant to give tank stats?

What other tankmates are in there?

If not he could just be unhappy where he was and is now sulking, what decor do you have? maybe there's not enough for him to do...

Cos I am sat at work and don't have them to hand.... plus I also know they are perfectly fine, that's why I am wondering what else could be up

He has some 5 x neon tetras, 3 x harlequins and 2 x pygmy cories

........

He has lots of plants to hide in and some bogwood, he also has mirrored glass

I will get a new pic tonight

He can't have been happy where he was, my last Betta I got from a tank full of other fish with hot water etc and he just got right into his tank and loved it

So when you go home tonight, will you do a water test? Is the water cludy? How are the other tank mates? I know that some bettas don't like to be around other fish. They have their own puddles in the wild.

Nope the water is nice and clear.... maybe slightly stained from the bogwood, but that has always been the case!!

Maybe it is because I gave him a sex change and call him Rosie He just didn't look like a boy, even though he is

The other tank mates are swimming around as happy as normal.... they are leaving him alone too.

Yeah maybe he/she doesn't.... my last betta was fine around them hmmmmm

Some bettas like it, while others completly oppose it.

Yeah it may be the case... I just thought it may take a little bit of time for him to adjust tocompletley different conditions.
