I have bought this tank and the Kribs from Hackmaster. I can't really take the credit for the Kribs and their babies as he did all the hardwork.

These tanks are exceptional quality, really impressed with it. Bargain price aswell considering it came with a Fluval 4+ internal filter, some spare media sponges, 3 massive ornaments, a ship wreck, a mask and a tree root (which is now in my other tank  ) a pair of the best looking Kribensis i have ever seen and 8 babies. :good:

Here are a few pics, i have added a few plants from my other tanks, hoping to stock it up a bit more with the plants and hopefully, fingers crossed, get them breeding again! :hyper:

Comments welcome, good or bad! :)

cool looking shipwreck and substrate, a lot of people dont seem to like ornaments like that but i think if done right they look great.

Thanks for the compliment. As i said i can't really take the credit for it as it is basically the setup that Hackmaster had. He told me that they spawned in the shipwreck so i put that back in when i set it up at my househoping to get them to spawn again. My other tanks are setup in a more natural setting with rocks and bog wood, but tbh, i am loving the new tank. Maybe it is the dark substrate along with the bright green of the plants?

Will be sourcing some black gravel/sand for mt next tank! :)

why are you using an internal filter...?

the trickle filters on these tanks are pretty good and will tackle your stock with ease. i would ditch the internal and get some tank space back.

Personally I would ditch both and add a HOB, especially handy when you need to lean the filter and don't want to disturb the fish (if spawning etc.).

Recommend the Eheim External Filter Liberty range

I think i am going to be removing the filter later on tonight. Can i ask what a HOB is? I agree that the built in filter is pretty good!

Right, internal filter and shipwreck removed. Now gone with a rock formation and a jug ornament that i had lying around. All the babies seem to love it at least so thats good. The tank is unfortunately situated near a window so the algae growth is rapid. Is there anything i can do to help keep it to a minimum? Could i add any fish to keep the algae down like a BN or apple snails or would the kribs attack them? Will get a pic up soon. :)

cheers.

keep the curtains closed in the window
cover the tank during daylight
keep the tank lights on for a minimum amount of time

buying fish to control algae will never work as you will need too many of them im affraid especially in a tank near a window getting lots of light. also certain algae eating species will only eat certain algae types so it really depends on what algae you have too as to what fish will enjoy its stay in the tank.

I think that shipwreck looks awesome, I do fancie getting a 4 - 6 foot tank, And getting a HUGE shipwreck in there :) I think they can look awesome like said above if done right.

Shipwreck has gone now and replaced with a coconut cave, flowerpot and some rock work. Also made a slate cave myself (very proud! :D ) that should be going in later on today. After some stocking issues I have finally got rid of the community fish and put the kribs back in their rightful home. So hopefully they will feel safe enough to breed again soon. Added some Apple snails (5 I think) in an attempt to help with the algae. I try and keep the blinds shut but the missus keeps opening them. Lol. I have resorted to only putting 1 light on in the tank rather than the two. Gives it quite a nice look tbh. Will get some pics up later when the cave is in place. Hope they like it, took me about 4 hours to make!! Lol.
