I currently have a 15g with 3 dannios a clown plec, a med. sailfin plec. and a smallish sized ghost knife.

I know that the sailfin and the ghost will need a bigger home, and as I plan on buying a 75 i might just bring the whole lot over to the new tank. Though the dannios seem happy, they've been in the 15 for a few years now.

To get to the point, I was pondering on what fish would be most compatible with the Ghost. I was thinking maybe a pair of Blue Acaras. It shouldnt be too much bioload for the 75.

I wanted a fish at least 8 inches that won't hide all day like the Knife and the plecs.

Thanks fer the help

Maybe you should get a large school of Congo Tetra or Rainbows for the 75G also. Blue Acaras are nice, there are various other larger fish you could go for such as cupid, festivum or eartheaters ("Geos"). All types of cichlids...

Remember that when you come to set up your new tank, you can cycle it fully within 48 hours by simply adding some of the gravel and one of the filter sponges from your 15G tank. This will transfer the bacteria thus cycling the tank autmatically.

I like the idea of an earth eater, but i also wanted to provide a dense plant cover for my ghost knife.

I'm thinking of a sand substrate. Inorder to circulate the water I'll probably get either a Fluval or a Rena and place a spraybar on the outtake. Ill also get an Emperor 400.

what are some of the more hardy plants?

Things like Vallis and crinum are fairly hardy. Also things like Java fern and limnophila are easy to grow.

Vallis:

Crinium Thaianum:

doing a sand bottom will be much better for the BGK, they need a nice soft bed to lay in when they get tired!

also if you go for earth eater (geophagus) they need to have sand as they sift the sand to find good and gravel isn't the easily surbstarte to pass back out throguh there gills!!
