i dont even pay attention to what most have in communities anymore as i get too wound up by it.. saddens me when i see malawi tanks that havent been thought out though. especially when the fish in there were picked like choosing sweets from a sweet shop.

I really hope a 'certain tank' doesnt contain many males as it will be a bloodbath pretty soon.

Mbuna should be researched a lot before deciding. Ok when buying juveniles sex cant be determined but it still needs to be considdered... something that doesn't seem to be happening.

wish i didnt let it get to me...but sadly it does.

I'm sure some have the fishes best intrest at heart..but really wish people would research a bit more and look into numbers for a species and give adaquate hiding places etc.......

i agree with you gixer. i think there should be more research done on a certain species of fish. want to make a difference? why not start by contributing to the profile section. the african section is greatly lacking. yours, and anyone's else's, experiences and knowledge would go a long way. if you need help with it let me know.

spend 3 hours in chat with one person in private. explaining setups, filters, species of fish, compatibility of fish and then have them turn around and say "oh well, guess i will just get a blood parrot!" talk about frustrating!

i have spent many hours in lfs helping out their customers. not my responsibility, but i feel it is my obligation as an experienced fishkeeper.

If you really want the bigger fish....what we did was scour the paper for garage sales.....we got a whole 55 gal tank set up really cheap(included everything down to the powerstrips, rocks and nets)!! We now have it set up with several cichlids, a cat fish, and a pleco and we didn't spend awhole lot....we also found another 55 gal with stand even cheaper which we haven't set up yet, when we have more money to get the filtration and heaters and such we may set that one up too LOL
