Hello! I had my Molly fish for about a week, and was aware she was pregnant. When I came home, there were babies swimming around, and my fish was dead. Does anyone know why? :(

How long has the tank been set? If it wasn't cycled (Nitrogen Cycle) then the build up of fish waste products could of stressed the mother into giving birth and then she died. Are there any other fish in the tank (other than the babies)? One more question, how big is the tank and is there any way for you to measure the nitrates/nitrites, ammonia, temp, pH ect?

It simply could of been a complicated birth for her and she was too stressed/tired and couldn't recover, but this doesn't often happen for live bearing species. If you can answer the other questions, I might have a better answer for you.
