My Girls - The Horrible Few Months

I missed this post as I was away last week. God you've really been through it haven't you hun?  What a terrible experience for you. I couldn't imagine losing all my girls,- I would be totally gutted  I don't know what to say. ????

Now that your 45 gallon tank is empty have you given it a complete clear/clean out? You could start from scratch and get a new female tank set up and ready for girls from Vicki (and Siobhan when she has some ready ;) ) It would give you something positive to concentrate on during this time of feeling so disheartened. xxx

My one issue is that I still have one girl left and if she is carrying anything then it might not be good for new girls.

I put the axolotls in the 45 gallon and moved the girls to a 10gallon, it seemed pointless keeping the 45 going for 1 or 2 girls really.

Do you have a small tank that you could move your one remaining girl into during treatment? Then you could get the 10 gallon emptied and start up again from fresh. I love your Axolotls! :good:

I have a 1.5 gallon, the worry is that she is carrying something. I however have no space for a 1.5 gallon, I have 5 tanks in my bedroom and NO space :(. She could move to my boyfriends tank but then I wouldn't see her all the time :(.

pffft!

If you want any girls your welcome to come through any time (before the scavengers get them) :D

YAY! When is it you go on hols? Next weekend would be the earliest I could come (we've got extra DIY house help coming this weekend :()

or actually I'm 'probably' off on Tuesday the 30th and Friday the 9th Sept otherwise it's weekends for me :)

It could also be they are fighting when you are not around and if so could be damaging each other and creating wounds that are generating these diseases.

It's hard to get a group of female bettas to live together sometimes. Anytime you change the tank, or the amount of females in the tank they must recreate their hirarchy as to which fish is the top fish, next top fish and so on. Until that new hiarchy is established, they will fight or bother each other. Even if they are not fighting they could be stressing each other out to the point of their immunity becoming so low that they get deseases.

It is highly unlikely that all these new fish you introduced were deseased to begin with but it is possible, especially if you bought them from the same place in a short span of time.
