I bought this fishtank a good few months ago on Gumtree for a bargain (£180 I think) =P

Anyways, after a lot of repairs and replacements (eg. the T8 light ¬_¬) I have finally finished my aquarium setup! I finally put the carpet moss on earlier this morning (hence the black string on the bogwood) and I can happily say I'm satisfied with the tank now!

Here it is:

If anyones interested in the stocking list check my sig =)

Thanks to everyone here who gave me good advice on plants, fish compatability and substrate!

Beautiful!!! Love the water colour :D It's crying out for some Crypt Wendtii Brown or Tropica as a contrast to the greens.

Is your new fish the Paradise Gourami?

Looks fab!!

What's the broad leaves on the left? Amazon?
Aye, bought about 4 Amazon Plants in the LFS; some of them sprouted baby ones so I clipped them and planted them behind the bigger ones =)

I've always liked to keep it simple - I tried mixing different coloured plants in the past in my smaller tank and it was a disaster =P

And yes, Nemo is the Paradise Gourami =)

He is a really beauty!!! May have to have a little look around for some of these!! :good: Never seen them before.

I would still add some of the brown Crypts, easy peasy to grow mate and would look brill infront of the swords :)

They're very rare in Northern Ireland; the LFS happened to get them by accident (came shipped in with a bunch of Three Spots). They didn't even know their species (I had to advise them) so I got it for only £3 =P

Nice fish but very aggressive with other anbantoids IME mate, i have a male at the moment whos a stunner, i'll get you a pic soon :good:

I wouldn't have them with any other gourami's or betta's etc.

Now you come to mention it Mr Melt, i believe i have seen them before labelled as paradise fish. And it was at Pets At Home.

Would they make for good centrepiece fishes or would they be too aggressive?

Well I was planning to use him as a centerpiece fish; at the moment he isn't being aggressive towards my other gouramis; although I made sure they were female before purchase =P

So it might be the 1 male - 2 female ratio thats working out, only time will tell!

If i decide to re stock my 180 planted tank then these may be my choice of centrepiece too.

Would they be ok in a 1m:2f ratio or is it 1:1?

I had one in a seperate 5gallon, then moved him into my main tank when i started the chocolate gourami tank, and he's sorta taken over

Beautiful congos, I'm hoping mine turn out pretty like that. :good: But not sure if I have any males in my batch yet.
