My Fish Is Bleeding?

Extreme cold is an anesthetic. When applied to skin, you can actually cut the skin and feel no pain. Cold also can cause rapid unconsciousness. In fact, hypothermia is reported to cause a state of euphoria and clouding of consciousness. Fish, at least most of the types that we keep (tropical), are extremely small and rapid immersion in extreme cold water, in my opinion, causes rapid pain relief and rapid unconsciousness. I have never seen any of my fish shows signs of what I consider suffering. They stop moving immediately and appear lifeless. Some have stated that since fish are ectothermic, this doesn't apply....perhaps in cold water fish I would agree.

Yup read that but can't tell if it's a dunk in coldwater, poured over like you said, or like what I said.

Put him in a container with not much tank water, and get a jug of cold water and tip it over the fish.

Just run the cold tap to it cold, throw some ice cubes in.

To get super cold water - mix ice, salt, and water, let sit. In a second container, take some dechlorinated tap water, and set it into the mixture of salt, ice and water, it will cool it off faster than in the freezer (thanks mythbusters).

Personally, i have tried adding ice cubes and found the fish started to struggle more than he was. Personally, i like the clove oil.

Sorry for the late response I had to help my dad outside but I did what Wilder suggested, chilled the water with icecubes and poured it over the fish and it died instantly, sorry tttnjftt I didn't read your reply in time.

Thanks

Austin
