this isn't my first tank just thought this time i would keep a journal as i enjoy reading them myself so someone may find it a bit interesting.

well anyway, i wanted a tank that would fit in my 3 1/2 foot gap but all the tanks were to small, as in capacity till i found the aqua one 980 which is pretty deep for a 3footer. its 215l or 50gallons.
has a built in filter in the roof and from reviews is pretty good more biological as it acts like a wet/dry filter. heres a picture not very interesting but lets you know what the tank looks like.

you can't see from this picture but i have never had a tank in such good condition it looks brand new with no visible scratches, the stand has a few water marks but i'm not bothered.

i will make sunday my set up day where i will post more pictures. hope you like it.

well, i'm going to move my three spanner barbs into it also two spot catfish and i want a group of four pictus cats. also i thought about putting a sajica in there. what do you think is there anything else i could add. oh i will have to add two golden algae eaters as they are my neighbours.

£149. the luck of ebay as i just searched again and theres one the same but the guy has a starting bid of £250.

was just reading how you had trouble with the guy on the phone, shame eh but lovely lovely tank! i do like the curved edges think it looks awesome! how are you scaping it/whats the plan?

Looks good :good: really glad you got it sorted :). With the stocking it looks heavy but sounds doable IMO but I would up the spanners upto 4 I know its only one more but it will make a difference. What is the foot print of the tank? I think swimming room is the main thing in here for a lot of the fish. Also you have a good amount of medium sized catfish in there. I think I would leave out the golden algae eaters just because of how big they get and also their reputation of being a bit mean. Would be nice to see a Sajica in there as well good choice of cichlid :good:

well the tank dimensions are 98 W x 60 H x 47 D cm. i was thinking of doing almost like a lake malawi set up with rocks. or maybe a large rock pile on the left and some wood or the right.

me again just thought for those who haven't owned a tank like this or seen one, i would show you the wet/dry filter in the hood.

each basket has three layers of media first layer being just sponges as you can see, second layer being carbon, which i will probably replace with more bio filter or sponges.

finally the nuggets which i may replace the middle layer with so i have two layers of this.

so yer thats it, the filter is being run by a 1000lph pump.

Oh No

Not the pads!

I HATE THOSE FILTERS!

i used to own one on my goldfish tank!

i had to buy new filter pads every 3 days and do a water change every 3 days :/

are you talking about the top set or the second layer?

also i have a new stocking list.

spanner barbs x 3 ( for the moment )
pictus catfish x 4
Dwarf pike cichlid

i know the pike, will add a large amount of waste to the tank but i was thinking i might get away with a small pleco, like leopard frog or something like that. perhaps a clown.

awesome so bit of sand on the bottom then a large ish rock just to the left of center and smaller rocks around it with a handfull of gravel around the rocks would look awesome! something like they did in tropical fishkeeper this month! lol the reason why the biggest rock should go to the left is of something called the golden ratio, we got taught this at uni, basically we are naturally atracted to this sort of set up you can see it in snail shells and other nature, bit hard to explain but im sure if you google golden ratio you should learn all you need to know :)
