Here is my tank. Looking for some help with the stocking. Here is what I currently have, is it possible to add anymore fish? If so what are your suggestions? I would like to add a bristlenose pleco, 5 more harlequins and some congo tetras but im not sure if this is possible.

  • 2 Moonlight Gouramis
  • 2 Red Rainbowfish
  • 2 Boesemani Rainbows
  • 2 Bolivian Rams
  • 6 Penguin Tetras
  • 5 Harlequin Rasbora
  • 6 Guppies
  • 2 Zebra Loaches (will raise to 5 I think)
  • 3 Hara hara Catfish

Filtered using 1400 l/h external filter.

Plants are a variety bought from ebay.

liking the stocking...but would advise against guppies. they breed uncontrollably.....and die very easily...why not just drop the guppies and up the shoal of tetras like you wanted?

I didn't actually buy the guppies but they do add a lot of colour to the tank. I don't have anywhere for them to go either is the thing. As far as breeding, I believe the other fish would eat any fry.

My red rainbowfish seem to be very dull since adding the other rainbows and the gouramis, any reasons why this would be the case?

great looking tank. plants look good. what kind are they. if you dont mind me asking do you dose with any ferts or have any speacial substrate.

alos i would drop the guppies too. not a fan of them personally. i would maybe keep what you have but just up some of the numbers.

If I was to redo my stocking I would swap the penguins for dwarf rainbows, and remove the guppies and add another variety of tetras.

Here are the plants I bought, sorry I do not know what they are to tell you. LINK

Any opinions on whether it would be okay to add any fish? Just realised I may be able to offload the guppies to my parents tank if they get one.

Rainbows should be kept in groups of at least 6, no matter the species. Rainbows that don't show good color may be stressed, fed the wrong type of diet, or are in less than ideal water quality. Remember, they need more care than other types of tropical fish in that they need large (50% or more) frequent (at least once a week) water changes and a good quality vegetable based diet.
