These were plakats and from what I've heard, plakats are harder to breed. They fight too much. It took them a looong time to get to know one another Plus dad was a notorious egg eater

Kelly (formerly wuv) Thanks I didnt get a chance to get the hurricane lamps today. I was installing recessed lighting today the wife wanted it over her desk, and ihave feeding wires in a finished room. Anyways that was done and back to messing around with me tank

Yes, he's the orange plakat in the thread you just commented in. I got two spawns out of him and then gave him a break.

silver, Yes,that's how it went, looking back on it he may have been eating bad eggs and possibly all of them were bad (on a couple occasions), I've been told orange eggs are weird and a lot of people give up on them because their eggs melt away. I witnessed that on many occasions but I assumed it was a fungus.
I've also had just nearly free swimming fry and he destroyed every last one of them. But just let them do their thing, practice makes perfect

rolln~unfortunately that's how it goes Don't count your fry until dad's out and they're free swimming. Anything can go wrong before then

mine was a dead beat dad also.. spat the eggs into the nest and after that went on vacation..

he is getting a little aggrevatted at her because he is trying to build the nest and she is trying to get busy he still embraces with her about every 3rd try....
