Having always wanted my own aquarium I finally got organised and after lots of negotiating with the other half I purchased a Fluval Profile 1000, Eheim 2128 thermofilter and Eheim 400 air pump.
After getting things set-up and part filled with water I got myself some bog wood and the tall bit of wood in the far right corner.
Also purchased some plants, Vallisneria Spiralis, Alternanthera cardinalis, Ehinodorus bleheri and a couple of Pogostemon helferi, no idea what the common names are but the local fish shop said they would give me a good start. Despite washing the plants I've been snail catching since putting them in, tend to see a couple every now and then and fish them out.
I wanted to try and do something a little different hence the river of blue gravel, but equally keep it looking fairly natural, well try anyway. Still not sure if my layout is going to stay like that, I kind of think the river and two bits of bog wood need moving to the left slightly and a couple of inches need chopping off the tall bit of wood on the right which is currently weighed down as it floats which wasn't quite what I was expecting!!
At the start of doing my fishless cycle and thinking about what fish I could put in the tank when it's ready.............. I like all sorts of fish which is causing a headache as I know they are not all compatible and some are probably too big for the tank also. Anyway thats something to work out when the time comes to it.
