My First 10G

finnaly for christmas my dad got me a 10g tank and hes paying for everything including the fish today i got a fake log hollowed out with lil plants on it. and i got 3 glow i the dark plants lol yeah i act like a kid when i comes to that kind of stuff and some black gravel to bring out the color in the plants. later today we will get some goldfish and corydoras at petsmart oh and it was weird you had to like break off where the filter and heater go im so exited i got up at 2 A.M and couldint fall asleep and so i watched tv tell 6 A.M and well i went up stairs and made this topic ill try to get some pics and if you want put some pics of your tank or goldfish and catfish

Do you have a heater? + What filter is it.

Dont worry we all make mistakes. We just have to overcome them

no i dont have a heater im not sure on the filter its 5-15g im not sure if that helps ill try to get a heater tomarrow but there are 2 lights that'll heat them up

kk i did some reacrch and they can live in 78-82 degrees and corys 72-82 is that right?

Whats the current stocking?

A Heater is a MUST for Plec's if you get a heater.

GO Tropical have some livebearer's ( they're useful to beignners ) then go onto stuff like neon tetra's just make sure you dont over stock

And mine like at around that tempetrure. maybe slgihtly higher.

10 gallons isn't big enough for 1 goldfish, a common goldfish belongs in a pond, not a tank. Fancy goldfish need bigger tanks also.

Corydoras are nice fish, just ensure the substrate you use is either sand or smooth gravel, you can keep small livebearers such as endlers, guppies or platies, all are colourful and hardy.

Also, you will need to read up on cycling, be it fish in or fishless its a process that must happen to ensure your fish lead a happy and healthy life.

If I were you I would get a heater and stick to the smaller species of corydoras such as habrosus, hastatus and pygmaeus.

huh i mean really =( im not talking koi some can like in a 10g

so what other fish could i get like neons well thats like the only thing ive kept =(

A common goldfish can get to the size of a Koi carp given the right conditions ie a pond, they're really not suitable, go for a smaller tropical species, they're a lot prettier IMO, Honey gouramis are very nice looking fish.

hmm i want to try somthing new i know i was like 6 and i had a betta and goldfish living togeather im suprised they didnt fight and i have had goldfish in a 5g before lil guy

i dont know if my tempetures too high but its around 83degree's

And i would just go tropical goldfish can go huge as stated by Truck.

I Have seen a few 18 inch goldfish in my day.

Anyway.

yes endlers / fancy guppies / mollies are good starter fish and not hard to keep at all.

i forgot to say yes they hate eachother and my mom didnt know and so my gold fish commited suiside and jumped for fredom lol

can guppies live togeather i havent heard of them before

yes you could keep a small group of guppies together, providing they're all males! 4 Male guppies and a group of 6 pygmy cories would work well.

wow so many choices idk when i go to petsmart ill look at some fish they have some neat ones
