yes. stupidly small IF you want to do a proper albino setup. I myself have 5,6, 9 & 15G setups still running alongside my main big ones..

bunjii, can we please have constructive comments? feeshy is looking for stock suggestions for the tank she is capable of owning. she is NOT looking for suggestions on what size tank to get for her desired stock. therefore telling her that its a "stupidly small tank" is non-productive to the point of her inquiry. there is also no call to use such incendiary language; feeshy has already recognized that the smaller tank limits what fish she can own.

you have to remember that not everyone has the money or space for an endless series of larger tanks. its good to tell people with small tanks that they're limited in what they can stock; its even better to provide alternative suggestions. an endless series of "NO"s and "Don't"s only encourages defiant behaviour and resentment--and results in cruelty towards the fish. if you can suggest solutions instead of just pointing out problems, the person you're advising won't feel so put upon and will see that there are more options than just a fishtank with no fish in it (a generally unpalatable thought)!

How about a female dwarf gouramy? it isn't completely white and its not albino, but on its own would be OK in the tank, and whilst they do all vary, generally vry pale /colourless.
It's not going to make a tank of freaks, more be one white /pale fish in a tank. Not sure iof this is really what you set out to acheive, though?

dwarf gouramis need at least a 10 gallon tank, a 5 gallon is to small for it.

You could do albino guppies, they are quite nice looking. I have one, and it was a lovely fish.

LOL, thanks for that pica. I'm currently after a 10 gallon. Hopefully this will be big enough for what I want, but small enough to be of manegable size (eg, fit on my desk). So, lets agree that I'm going for a 10. What to go in it? I;m currently thinking...
Black sand/black v. fine gravel
Moonlights if I can do them
Planting- Not sure. Something like some straight valiss probably
Deco- Not sure. suggestions welcome.

3 albino bronze cories, 6 white neons and then you are fully stocked but maybe you can also add in a couple of (male) albino guppies if you can find some OR a single white betta OR a single female dwarf gourami to fill in the top. Just make sure you keep up with maintainance and this should work fine. Oh BTW, someone said earlier that a molly would be ok in a 10 - I disagree. Mollies get to 4" and unless you are only going to keep that in the tank, I would go for 15 gallons as the minnimum tank size since they do like a little room to swim and a 10 gallon doesn't realy provide that.

Thankee sylvia. Since I haven't seen anywhere with white neons, I'll count them out. So I'll go with 3 or so white platys (again, if I can find them) or some female whitey honey gouramis. The betta, I doubt I'll be able to get. None of the shops have a particularly vivid range of bettas, and I don't want to ask them to get me one because they seem to get them from bog-standard breeders. Bettaman is a possibility, I'd prefer a female as I don't want to risk getting an aggressive male. I know females can be aggressive, but don't mention that:p. I'll get the freeads in a minute, I'll report back to see if I can find anything. If not, I'll try and go with the ebay lot.

You should do rocks in the tank, like dark rocks with dark sand, though really expensive it is better for the corries, and looks nicer. Maybe white fake plants would like nice as well.

Riiight... I'm not sure which day the freeads come out, but I bought The News which has a very basic one in. There is a 24x12x12 one, but I'm not sure whats with it, for £12, and an unspecified pair of fishtanks which I'd assume are small becasue they are £6 for the pair. There is a hex with everything (including a stand which I don't really want), but its £45 and I'm not sure on the size. Sigh... I'll go and measure my desk, then ask dad to phone and ask about the 24x12x12 one. And ask dad whether the desk will be OK. Its not majorly flimsy, I mean, I can sit on it no problemo and i'm about 70kg. I'll bbiab to update. LOL, this is getting very long, isn't it :)

you should call about all of them, because the pair may be larger tanks and come with everything, sometimes people are so desperate to get rid of the tanks, they will make the price dirt cheap.

MM... I might. I've just been up to the desk. i can fit it on (I can fit a 3fter on if I really wanted...), the only slight problem is that it covers half my mirror. Not that I'm vain, it just makes it look a bit crowded with only half a mirror showing. Anyway, I've just worked out the volume in litres, and its about 57. Water is 1kg/litre, so add the weight of the tank and the weight of fish, etc. it should hopefully just be OK.

I suggest pica reads the entire thread, read my reply post, and then appologise. Also if you are using such words as "incendiary" requires basic grasp of the English language....

Sorry Feeshy, but if you read what i said it is perfectly valid. If you want a good albino setup, go for a bigger tank.

In a 57 L tank your options are alot more, corys, tetra, albino cherry barbs, even an albino plec if you have good filtration.

Ben

Valid it might be, but it was hardly a constructive comment. They do say, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. As said, I'm on a limited budget. If this 24x12x12 I'm after doesn't include any equiptment, then I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it. A filters going to be around £20, even off Ebay. Then theres a £15ish heater etc. I've been through this already. Theres also space. I'm limited to my bedroom, which is the smallest room in the house.

Course it was a constructive comment, you cant setup an albino setup in a tank thats 5 gallons!

Please think rationally, If i wanted to insult you are be non-constructive, you would realise straight away.

If all you want is to hear praise and people telling you the right thing, you wont get it, because this is an OPEN FORUM where people share their views on various subject matter, and share their opinions on inquiry posts...

It wasn't meant to be a complete albino setup. It was meant to be a 'trial run' before I considered doing it on a larger scale. But now I'm hopefully donig a 10-12 gallon one, I'll have to jump right in with it. I'm perfectly happy for you to express your opinion. I'm just not happy with you expressing it that way. All it needed was a simple 'I'd upgrade it to a larger tank if possible'.
