I have 4 fish tanks.

One 250L with a fluval 4 and a fluval u3 as my filters. Plus a heater. Fish Green terror, parrot and a few other fishes.

Another Tank is 96L with a jewel internal filter and also a fluval 3 working in it. Also a heater. mainly keep tetra's, 1 swordtail, mountain loach and a 16/17 year old synodontis.

another tank 96L with a fluval 3 in it. I keep 2 goldfish in this so no heather.

lastly a small tank which houses 4 cardinals, 4 neons, 2 cory, 1 sword and a 3 year old shrimp!

The heaters aren't really an issue I dont think. The temperature in the house is high because its summer. Its the filtration I'm a tad worried about. What can i do to make this better for the fish? Am I better removing the filters in case they seep stuff back into the water. Will i do part water changes tonight? I only did them on saturday but don't mind doing again.

Any advice welcome as long as its before Thursday LOL.

Maybe dont feed them between now and thursday to reduce the amount of waste they are producing.

TBH I wouldn't worry about not having the filters on for that period of time, they should cope my filter broke one evevning and my fish were non the wiser till I got a new one the next day.

If you are worried about getting oxygen into the tank then i would just agitate the surface of the water every hour or so.

They will be fine!

Thanks Sofia. I've been told if one of my neighbours doesn't let them in we may be off longer but I'm assured now that the fish will be ok. If my neighbour refuses to let the leccy guys in she may not be ok when I'm finished with her.

Crikey just noticed where you are from??? You're not my neighbour are you LOL

lol I dont think so otherwise my leccy is being turned off without me knowing. I am from North Edinburgh the top of Ferry Road. Know it?

Any of the filters have a hand primer button..id press that for a bit once every few hours just to move the water round (after a few hours of the same old water being in the cannister the O2 levels in the canister may drop and the bacteria may suffer) so pressing the prime button will take oxygenated tank water down into the canister and the stuff thats been sitting back up into the water

I don't think the fluvals have that button. :(

So did the power go off then?

It didn't go off .... but..... I've been booked for 2 days work by Scottish Power on the 7th and 8th of September. the good news is though that the contractors are gonna rig me up a supply that i can keep my fish tanks going if its gonna be more than a few hours.

Neighbour is furious because no one else is getting that.
