i suggest for getting in the aquarium with the lion i would net him in a large net just lay it at the top of the aquarium while you ajust minor things
Constantly netting a Lionfish while you do maintenance is not a good idea, you run the risk of causing serious damage to their spines, not to mention the stress placed on the fish. Even when purchasing a Lionfish the LFS should not use a net but catch the fish in a bag by 'herding' it.

Good posting. I forgot to mention the level of stress it would cause to the animal. I dought he would come out of a net intack anyway. Would want to do that to him.

Lionfish are passive aggressive, they will not actively attack you and would rather 'show' their spines and back off.
Netting and bagging stress the fish out unneccesarily, you had the right idea of getting someone to check where the fish are in the tank
Use tongs when moving rockwork, and use due diligence whenever you have your hands in the tank.

We have the antennata lionfish that you have, also the Fuzzy dwarf and coral catfish who are all venemous, they have been in there for well over a year and using the precautions above we have had no trouble whatsoever

Getting them off live food can be difficult but really is the best thing to do

Both the fuzzy and the antennata readily take shrimp and mussel now
